Filtration of Water

An aquifer is an underground layer of water-bearing permeable rock, rock fractures or unconsolidated materials (gravel, sand, or silt). Groundwater can be extracted using a water well. The study of water flow in aquifers and the characterization of aquifers is called hydrogeology.

How to make an Aquifer at home?

Materials Needed:

- Rain Water

- 1 l water bottle (cut at the bottom )

- clean cloth

- Glass

- Stones

- Small stones / pebbles

Lets see how to do it

1. Cut the 1l plastic bottle near the bottom.

2. Keep the rain water overnight so the dirt gets settles at the bottom.

Now, carefully, pour this water into the glass without mixing.

3. Place stones and small pebbles inside the plastic bottle.

4. Place this bottle in a cup and pour water on top of the stones. Some dirt get filtered in between the stones.

5. Cover the mouth of the plastic bottle with a cloth and tie it. Pour the filtered water in the bottle. Small dirts will be filtered.

Caution : This water is not consumable. Futher filtration and boiling is needed.
